its mac time in bed!

well here i am lying in bed, and blogging. I’m blogging from an apple ibook that dave mitch lent me for the day trip on saturday to edit on, so i just plugged it into our home network and here i am.

today was a very hot day, i was sweating all day, and the shirt i was wearing today is like wearing a plastic bag…silly silly boy and i was wearing long pants too.

office, jacks then community dinner was my day.

oh boy!

Today was one of those “oh boy” days, where you wake up and think “oh boy” hence it being one of those “oh boy” days. Anyway I woke up and thought “oh boy” because it was going to be such a long day today, I went up to the office at about 9:15 and began to write a news script for jacks this afternoon, it was just me and jen in the office today, we had our 10am devotion / prayer time only we started at 10:10. Don’t tell mal!
Then I worked more on the script and got writers block so then I decided to go buy the tapes that I needed for the video, and hopefully I would think of more script ideas on my journey. I went to Kmart and bout 12 VHS tapes and then on my way back to the office I went past just jeans or jeans west or something where they have a shirt in the window that just says “buff” (kaia rang me on Saturday to tell me about the shirt) anyway I was tempted beyond temptation and I bought it, only $25..bargin. Then I went back to the office for a bit and then came home to make the intro for the video.
We where doing a news video at the café where the kids could be newsreaders .
Toms computer was being a dog so it took me much longer than expected and I was running late. At about 1:40 I called jen to come pick me up with all my stuff, and she drove me up to the café and I set up all the video stuff in the office, I used a computer for the auto-cue using powerpoint display, and it worked really well.
The kids had fun, I had fun it was all fun, but a lot of work and very tiring. And the office at jacks was so hot..”oh boy” it was hot in there.
After jacks it was off to a daytrip meeting, which is this Saturday, twas a fun meeting we had biscuits.
Then tom and I came home then we went back to jacks to pick up all the gear then to video ezy and now home..”oh boy” what a day.

i wrote that last post on the upsatirs computer whilst tom was on his computer downstairs…its almost exactly the same.

its still dodgy

Came home to some pretty sad news tonight, and it sucks cause there is nothing much we can do about it. Tom and I just prayed together about it but prayer doesn’t give always give you the feeling that everything is going to be all right. You just want to go out and fix the problem but you cant

Yesterday I was labouring for hugh, I like working for hugh its gun. We chat all day, And I learn stuff about building and stuff. So that when I’m married I can be a full on handy man, I might even buy one of those belt tool bags. And the wife can say “hey Rob can you go put up a pagola in the backyard” I can say “sure love its next on my list after I have finished the extension”
And she will be all excited because her husband is sone helpful around the house.

Anyway it was a long day working from 8am until a bit after 6, its tiring stuff, but it makes me buff-er, I woke up quite sore this morning.

Today was Helens birthday, happy birthday Helen!

Tom, Jo and I went to woollies and bought silly stuff and made a “Helen hamper” for her birthday we then went to Avalon to her birthday gathering, it was at this posh house that overlooked the beach, tom wanted to make a film there. If I lived there I would have posh cocktail parties.

Then tom, jo and myself went back to Belrose tom had church stuff to do so jo and I went to wollies and then went and sat in a park for a few hours, then went to church.

After church yewin and I had a long discussion about insurance and then we all went off to maccas, matt wont tell us what this blog post is about….

Tomorrow I have a lot of work to do in the offic

dreaming

i can never really remember my dreams, like the actual stories but i can remember stuff like they normally involve looking like tv shows or films and the camera angles change and my dreams switch between the differnet cameras, but the actual content of my dreams is a bit of a mystery, i should write them down as soon as i wake up

Today I woke up at 7:07 ready for dana to pick me up to go to jens house for our team meeting. Team meeting was fun , although I think jenny has a strange understanding of pancakes, pancakes a re big and flat and thin, but her “pancakes” where medium and chubby more like pikelets or obese pancakes or something. And on top of her fatty boomba pancakes there was about 3 drops of maple syrup available for consumption between 4 of us.
They tasted good though.

After team meeting jen dropped me home and I got stuff ready for boys brigade and checked my emails, then the cleaners came, and its not fun being at home when the cleaners are here so I left and went up and visited the office before going off to rough edges, there was the usual frivolities in the office. I think maybe I have lowered productivity in that office..oh well lowered productivity, raised fun-ness.

Rough edges was good, I played clock patience with a deck of cards, and just got up when people had questions to ask, it was very relaxed.

Then I came back to Hornsby and went and did some photocopying in the library and ran into Lesley on the Hornsby bridge I talked to her for quite a while then caught the train to Berowra where I ran into Gillian from school walking her dog, the stupid dog licked my hand.

Boys brigade was good, the boys where all a little miss-behaved and hyperactive tonight, a little hard to control but we managed.

Now I am home, jane and john and Hannah are away for the weekend so its just the boys,

Last night, well this morning was matrix revolutions, twas fun as tom said, I think I can handle it as a trigoly now, before I saw it I thought that reloaded was a bit of a filler, and I still think it was a filler, but it also fits and I’m not minding as much that its three films.

I like the way in each of them they have used the same technology in a new way, “bullet time” is their little poshie and in the first film it was amazing, in the second they used it different ways, same effect but different outcome, same with this one, they used bullet time for hand to hand punching with a really cool shot of agent smith getting punched in the face by neo..my favourite shot of the whole film.

Going to bed at 5 am and then going to work all day isn’t the best combination, but I coped.

Dinner with jo’s dad and lisa, was much less scary than expected, infact I reckon I even enjoyed myself.

Tonight I went to free for all after jacks only on arriving in glebe I noticed that free for all was not on, the hall was all shut and no lights on….so I turned around and came back to Hornsby,

My life of transport.

Got a team meeting in the morning so off to bed now…

its a close thing in 2003

Today was a bit of a long day, as was yesterday.

Yesterday I started work at 9:45am and finished work at 9pm.
I had to go back to the office after jacks to have a meeting with the man who is going to do sound at our advent pageant, which was a very positive meeting, and most of our equitment we are going to be able to get for free which is really good, after the meeting I went and met the lovely jo in Chatswood where we walked around and had gelato and sat around and chatted, it was good to see jo again because I haven’t really seen her in about 2 weeks, we have both been busy, I did see her in Saturday night at ‘impact’ but not really. So that was nice although I got home late.

Today I woke up bright and early, full of energy ready for my meeting with Westfield, I went up to the office first to photocopy some stuff to take to the meeting then I went across to Westfield.
I went into centre management and was lead into the board room where I was to be met by the lady I went to see, I spent a few minutes by myself in the boardroom, it was such a cool boardroom, big shiny table with chairs all around it and one of those electric projector screens at one end, on the wall where giant photos of Westfield, taken in all different parts of Westfield, with fish eye lenses and really wide lenses and stuff, they where very very cool photos.
The meeting was quite good and Westfield seemed very supportive of the pageant which is great seeing as they take up most of Hornsby.
Then I went back to the office and did some stuff, jen and I went to do some shopping and banking and whilst in woolies jen broke the box of lemonade cans, very funny. Then jen pushed the trolley back to jacks because I was to embarassd to push a trolley through Hornsby and refused to push it.. when we got to jacks I managed to set the alarm off, and I couldn’t turn it off, you have no idea how bloody loud that thing is, I was standing in the hallway directly under the siren trying to make it stop..it went on for about 2 minutes, which doesn’t sound that long, but after 2 minutes of the jacks alarm my ears didn’t work properly for a few hours.
After jacks was community dinner, we spent most of the night talking about poo, quite amusing and fun.
Tom bought matrix tickets tonight aswell so we are off to the 1am session tomorrow night at george street in the city.

Last night i met david for our normal sunday routine of hot chips and gravy, we met at 5:08 outside charkies and went to the park to eat them. Whilst sitting there eating chips and gravy, sipping ice cold buddies and chatting away, a big bunch og pigeons began to get closer and closer, on a closer inspection one of the pigeons didnt have any feet, it just walked around on the stubs of its legs. Probably a carrier pigeon from the vietnam war or something.

After chips and gravy daivd and i went to see “runnaway jury” quite a fiting film to see, after recieving my jury duty summons.
runaway_jury.jpg
It was a good film i liked it a lot. I know thats not much of a wrap but i cant think of much to say about it, but you should go and see it.
It brought my 2003 movie watching up to 35 and davids to 39, we both decided its not about winning its about seeing a lot of films.
although winning would be fun too.

This morning tom and i arose early so that we could take back the tripods, mixer and cable drum to their respective hire places in artarman. We left a bit after 8 and headed for waitara maccas where we got breakfast. We got to panavision and i took the tripods in, then drove around to digihire and tom asked me “did you put the cable in the boot” i said “no did you?” and he said “no i didnt put it in either….frigg…..bloody frigg frigg frig…of man..frigg grigg…..”

you see tom now had to drive back to hornsby pick up the cable drive back to artarman drive back to hornsby and then get on a train and go to college. This would not have been such a dog but he needed to study for an exam this morning that he had at 2pm today. A few hours later tom sent me a message saying “I studied for the wrong exam”

MAKING AN IMPACT

After the wedding (which I will talk about later) michael and I drove to Belrose and arrived at about 4pm. Extremely tired we unloaded the car and began to set up the cameras and tripods and do some cable-ing. Along with re-aranging the mixing desk a little. Eventually it was all set up and ready to go. With not that much time to spare we had a video team prayer then went to our respective spots.
Along with being dog tired, I also had the problem of not being around for the rehearsals, so I was not really sure of what was happening and was quit nervous about this because 2 of my camera people hadn’t seen any of the show at all. I had seen bits here and there.
So mixing was a challenge, but I knew it would start off quit bad and get better as the night went on.
The problem with dance is that there is so much movement on the stage that you cant really tell specific cameras to take a shot of something because as soon as they set the shot, the dance has moved to the other side of the stage, so that was hard, I had to let the camera operators try and be creative and just give them broad requests like camera 1 did close ups, camera 2 did medium and camera 3 long shots. There was also specific shots that I could tell cameras to get every now and then when I did know what was happening and what would happen next. There was also times where all 3 cameras would give me exactly the same shot, but that didn’t happen to often. There where some really good shots that came through and I was quite proud of my crew, I think we did quite well considering our lack of knowledge on the content of the show. I did bodge up the mixing in a few spots, like I would cut to the wrong camera and get nothing on the screen or cut to a camera that was out of focus and stuff, but there was no technology faults all the problems in this production where human error, which is quite a blessing because there is normally some major technical problem during the gig, but not this time.
The coms stuff we had was pretty dodgy, I couldn’t really hear and if cameras wanted to talk to me I had no idea what they where saying but they seemed to be able to hear me, The other problem was that we had heaps of interfearence so at times there was a loud hiss in our ears.
As a show in itself I thought all the technical side of things was really well done and very tight, the stage management was really good. I’m still not the biggest fan of dance and drama and I cant really comment on the content of the show because I was concentrating too hard of camera angles and shots and which camera next to really take in what was actually going on up on the stage, but it was much less vibey than I had thought it would be.
I am also glad its over, I was sooo tired by the end, having had no sleep then 7 hours of a wedding video then Impact the packing up impact I was stuffed. But I did it and last night I slept like a slab of concrete.

sleepless in seatle

Well its 7:25am on saturday morning, today i have a wedding video and the impact concert. Last night i went to bed at 2am after chatting with david and tom and getting all my stuff together for today. After getting into bed at 2am i then spent the entire night awake, i havent slept a wink. Its really strange, i just couldnt get to sleep. So here i am blogging at 7:25am.

I got to think about a lot of stuff whilst laying awake though, i planned things and cabled up the live mix in my head and had a meeting with westfield and all sorts of things, but unfortunatly none of them where dreams.

I’m not sure if this has ever happened to me before, i cant think of any times where i havent slept for a whole night unintentionaly.

really weird, really tired. I hope i dont colapse.
