THE COUPLE 7pm weekdays on channel 4
The viewers vote until there is only the final 2 contestants left, the 2 final contestants have never met each other. But soon they will. A regular online chatting session is set up for the two of them, they talk on msn every night. The conversations are published in the next days paper for all to read. A few weeks into it the viewers vote for a first meeting, the camera are in place the meeting is arranged, a party is organised. The host of the show goes and meets the female contestant while the male contestant stays at home frantically cleaning his room and doing his hair. The guests begin to arrive, and finally the host turns up with the female contestant. The male contestant is in the bathroom with a friend when the female arrives he is drying out a computer keyboard over the sink. They look at each other, the host introduces the two contestants. There is a awkward silence followed by some on the spot un-funny nervous comments. The guests all gather and they begin a journey into the city to watch a film together. On the train the host positions himself so that there are 2 seats near him for the two contestants, he tries to provoke conversation, the other guests on the train look on in anticipation.
Sms to win, cast your vote “will they get together?” (proudly brought to you by optus)
The part guests all get off the train and go to the cinema, the romantic film chosen for the even was “the hulk”. The male contestant gets into the cinema before the female and secures his seat. Shock horror due to bad planning the two contestants didn’t sit next to each other.
During the film comments from other guests where past to the male contestant, giving advice and asking when he was gonna make his move, and what do you think?. The Australian public sent in their requests and advice and the guests obliged by passing it on to the male contestant.
After film it was the walk to the restaurant the host mingled and interviewed the other guests, everyone tried to get the two contestants to walk together, they did for a very short while.
At the restaurant the male contestant sat at one end of the table with the female at the other end, there where many glances in each others direction, with quick look aways if the other contestant saw. The cameras picked up on it all, there was even a special “the couple uncut special”
Things progressed, sms conversations became more intense (thanks to optus) and the (ninemsn) msn conversation began to go later and later in the nights.
The host send text messages to the female contestant, to hype things up a bit, hopefully enlighten a flame or at least a spark. A meeting is arranged between the 2 contestants without the host.
The crew gets to Chatswood early to set up for this monumental meeting.
The contestants arrive in Chatswood, the male contestant is met by a kick up the bum by the female contestant, they laugh and joke ,flirting is evident. The afternoon is spent walking around not really knowing what was going on around them just concentrating on being silly and impressing each other. There was foodcourts and later ice cream at dusk.
More and more meeting where arranged (thanks to sparkly bee and breakthru) the contestants began flirting more and more, there was one night in the city with the host, another guest and the two contestants where there was much flirting. The next night the contestants went on a romantic night to darling harbour, where the had mcdonalds and caught the monorail, and held hands.
There was a cheer from viewers across the nation when their hands first connected.
Eventually the two contestants became “the couple” with ratings for the show going through the roof, the producers decided to keep the program going and follow the new couple around. One lucky home viewer won a truck load of cash (thanks to wizard home loans) for predicting they would get together.
The next big event was the (coca-cola) kiss, yet again ratings went through the roof, “the couple” had hit number one 2 months in a row, the whole country was glued to their televisions, sending sms’s and emails, as well as face to face advice.
As things progressed, the producers have extended the show for another 2 series, with negotiations for another 3 series after that. The viewers feel like they have birthed the couple all the couples movements are controlled by votes and descisions that the viewers make. The producers are currently in negotiations with Dr Phil to see if he can come in and give some relationship advice to the 2 . Separately of course!
But until then it seems the viewers have plenty of advice, in the most public relationship of the year.

So stay tuned for “the couple” season 16, coming soon to channel 4.

My blog is getting so boring I need to have a blog make-over, the content is boring the template is boring…
today i went to work.blah blah blah blah, then went home blah blah blah.
A productive working day, followe by a night of frivolity.
I went and met jo in chatswood then we cam back to waitara to the blue gum where we met up with david and tom, then sal came and ryan and helen. Quite a little doo.
Ryan and where real men we had a game of pool, i won then we played doubles with these two random people and they whipped us…whoaaaaa.
Later on jo fench and tinku arrived we had a boys v girls game of pool. The girls where winning until helen sunk the white off the black.
go the boys!
and of course what night is complete without a trip to maccas.
Saturday night was the jazz ball, and it was my job to video stuff so they could make a promo for next year. So I went along, I didn’t have the best time because there was no one there I really knew all that well and not many people talked to me. but I video-ed and packed up and chris, jem and tom picked me up.
This morning I woke up at 7:30am to go off to Berowra Baptist Church for a boys brigade, girls brigade church parade. Not many of the boys showed up which was a shame. But I met lots of old faces and chatted with many people. Just before leaving Bel put phoebe in my arms and steve put my hat on my head and they took a photo of me in my uniform with phoebe.
Then I came home and helped john move stuff to the shed and then it was back to bed where I was planning on having a nap for an hour or so, but 1:30 I got into bed, and 5:25 I got out of bed, it was a long afternoon sleep.
I got out of bed and realised it was tool ate to go to Belrose so I went and sat at toms computer and checked emails and stuff, then david called and asked if I wanted to see a film, of course I said yes but I cant afford it he said dont worry about it. Lovely boy! Anyway he came around here and we watched a bit of foxtel. There was a doccumentry about elephants on the ABC and they had developed a camera called “dung cam”. They built a fibreglass lump of elephant poo and stuck a camera in it so they could get cameras really close to the elephants. Quite funny, I enjoyed dung cam.
We walked up to hornsby and went to woollies where we bought coke and biscuits and pizza rolls and chips. We ate a bit of the stuff in the foodcourt then went up to greater union. Where we saw ‘love actually”.

It was a very good film, I thouroughly enjoyed it. Yes it was one of these feel good you can predict the ending films but it was a fun feel good you can predict the ending film. I recommend it to you all.
Today was a fun day, in the office during the day where I was ever so productive, then went and hung out at talk and tucker and that was fun too, then it was off to Boys Brigade for our Display night and that was fun, and now Helen, jo and tom are coming to get so we can have some fun.
tom just intimatly touched me………..hmmmmmm
I tried to do some Christmas shopping today, and on my way into Westfield I spotted jane turning around in circles at the top of some stairs, looking very very lost. I went up to her and she told me how she was very very lost and didn’t know where the car was and she also didn’t know where she was. So i questioned jane and we worked out the vicinity of the car, and eventually found the car after quite a long time of car park searching.
I went back into Westfield and bought some Christmas cards and got my passport photo taken..man its bad.
Christmas shoppers really smell, there was a lot of B.O in Westfield tonight and I would just like to say that standing in line in kmart I decided that if I ever smell like the people in front of me that you should tell me, I don’t want to punish people like that, so if I ever smell please tell me and I will fix the problem with some trusty old sprayfresh.
Today I went to work as normal. I had a fat meting with steve today aswell, it was a good meeting, like jen said, I now have things to do and I now know what to do when I don’t have things to do so that I do have things to do when I’m not doing anything..ahhhhhhh
After my meeting with steve I went back to the medical centre to get my stitches out. I went in and they said “oh the nurse can do that” so they led me into the same room I was in on Monday. I sat there for a while, the nurse pulled of the old dressing and cleaned the wound with stinging stuff. She was an asian woman with not the best English. She went and got the doctor so the doctor could assess whether or not to take the stitches out yet, he came in and said “oh its still looking a bit open we will eave the stitches in until Monday and just clean it up today and give it a new dressing”. The doctor then left and the nurse put my hand on the table and PULLED THE STITCHES OUT!!!!!
It began to bleed quite a lot because IT WAS STILL A BIT OPEN AND THE STITCHES SHOULD STAY IN UNTIL MONDAY. Anyway, she got some cloth swab things and pushed down really hard on the wound saying “its just bleeding hold down hard to stop” I did a bit of holding and she did some holding. She lifted the swabs and it was still bleeding so “more holding”. It was really hurting, more painful than when I was walking to the medical centre after just cutting my hand open in the first place. She stuck some steri strips across the cut. Again pushing them down quite hard. Then she got out a dressing to put over the top, it wouldn’t stick down and she said “are you ok, your sweating” I said “it hurts, but I’m ok” she said “cant stick if sweating” so there it is a have a re-opened wound with half a dressing hanging off it. Well I did, but I bought some dressing from the chemist and stuck it on myself.
I don’t think the ure pulled the stitches out against what the doctor said I think she just didn’t listen to what he said or didn’t understand it or something
I did then go back and take a photo of the medical centre and I was going to put it up on my blog and say “DON’T GO HERE” but after some conversations about it I decided not to.
I’m sure she is a lovely woman.
Well the foodcourt was fun, myself and david where the regulars with jo, leseley, jenny and ryan all coming along for the community atmosphere that is “foodcourt day”
Tom was unable to come and he sent his apolagies.
I get my sticthes out tomorrow, I’ll have to take the digital camera across and take a photo of my wound and maybe some action shots of stitches being removed, if the medical centre dude will let me. And if work lets me borrow the camera.
Its for the arts!
This morning in the office just after morning tea, I was playing with a butter knife twirling it and whirling it and stuff whilst chatting to jen. IY put it in my shoe so my shoe was like a james bond shoe with a built in butter knife. You never know when you’re going to need a butter knife. This next bit is a bit hazy but I think I was bending the knife or something, anyway the blade snapped in half and embedded itself in my hand. It began to bleed, it hurt a lot, went into the kitchen and I put my hand under cold water, then jen gave me a hand towel and I held it tightly, it was funny and we where both laughing but bloody hell it hurt.
We decided to walk across to Hornsby and go to a medical centre. I was a bit against the idea but I went along. Went into Westfield into the medical centre place down near coles. Jen went off shopping and I went and sat in the back room waiting for some medical attention.
The doctor came in and inspected my wound, he inspected it by prying apart the 2 sides of the cut and saying “its quite deep, will need some stitches”. I couldn’t help but think to myself, the only reason it needs stitches is because you just pryed it open.
He got me to lay down and he stabbed my hand with 2 needles, that hurt too. Then he began to prod and poke more, with metal things and swabs and stuff, every now and then it would really hurt, and he would say “did that hurt” and I said “yes it did” then the doc would reply with comments like “oh they must have given me the weak stuff” or “it must have just been tap water in the needle”….i didn’t want his jokes I wanted him to give me another needle.
He sewed me up with 5 stitches I cringed when it hurt in the un-anathematized section of the wound. Then I left.
He did manage to make my index finger completely numb, not that that’s helpful.
I have decided to write more “unfinished life of a pleb”. I started writing it a few years ago but sort of forgot about it and never got past 3 or 4 pages. But I think it’s a good project to complete even if it never gets read by anyone else at least I will have a document detailing my life as a young fella that I can read over when I’m old and senile.
Yesterday was a good day, I slept in then edited wedding videos, then met daivd for our Sunday hot chips and gravy in the park. We decided to meet earlier this week, after the chips we went to Westfield and I got a hair cut and david hung out in borders then we met up again a and walked around for a little bit then I began my journey by bus to Belrose where I went to jo’s house for a bit then we went off to church where we had hot chips with Helen then went back to the church for church. After church it was off to maccas, see photo on toms blog. That was fun, I was silly with matt and phil and some other dude who I keep forgetting his name..sorry.
This morning I woke up at the now weekday time of 8:32am. Went off to work and had a good day, I didn’t really do all that much but it was good. I did try on a nice suit, although judy pointed out that it has some dodgy bits on it where somebody has ironed it. You see I need a suit for this wedding in New Zealand in February. And instead of hiring one or buying a new one I can pick one up in wombat for like $3.50
This morning was pancake breakfast day so off to the castles we went.
The pancakes where yum, even the soy one that I ate didn’t taste to bad!
After pancakes myself, ryan and jo kemp walked to Westfield where we met up with Tinku and jo French, we hung out in borders for ages, jo French was doing Christmas shopping. We moved onto bay swiss via a hot wheels stand where they had these really cool car tracks that propelled the cars around loops and stuff, they where cool so we entered a competition to win them.
At 1:30 we me together again at the table of dreams in the foodcourt it was at the table of dreams that we sat fro a long time, several hours in fact. Jo French and Tinku left after a while, but after they left Tim Curry and his brother walked past so they joined us for a fare while too, then tim and tims brother left, and it was davids turn to rock up, he rocked up and joined us then after a bit jo kemp left. So it was down to three boys, me ryan and david, we sat at the table for a bit longer then went off in search of the cheapest stuff in Westfield, we set a budget of $3.50 each and embarked on an adventure.
Our first purchase was a small little sauce dish that cost 50 cents from some home living store, followed by a pack of cards from hot dollar then a bottle of drink, a packet of chips and a packet of wafer biscuits from aldi, then it was down to woollies for some olives, then across to bakers delight for a big bread stick. We even had money left over…..
Well the obvious choice for consumption was the table of dreams so back we went, eating and drinking and playing cards it was all very merry, ryan and I attempted to build structured out of the cards, mine kept falling over but ryan made a good one, it even held the little sauce dish with a pile of olives stacked on it.
We left the footcourt and disbanded at 6pm, so for me and ryan that was a bit over 6 hours straight in Westfield….I’m not sure if that’s something we should be proud of.
After leaving the house again to go up to the station to go to boys brigade I found myself again getting wet from the rain, only this time I had forgotten my umbrella and it may have been of some use as the rain wasn’t as heavy as earlier. I got to the station and bought my ticket and went and sat on platform 2, I waited and waited ad waited, the train that was due in 4 mins became the train that was due in 6 minutes and then it became the “late running all to Berowra service” with no actual time of departure. It came eventually and I walked in the rain from Berowra station to boys brigade. There where lots of boys tonight, all being very hyper active and not listening to anything we said to them, it was a bit of chaos. There was fighting and swearing and general havoc, and they just wouldn’t listen.
Hugh drove me home and now here I am full of snot sitting at the computer having a whinge.
Today seems to be one of those days that just didn’t need to happen.
I woke up at 8:14 with a message from steve asking if I was going to the team meeting, which was at 8am at kaias house, I remember setting my alarm for 6:49 last night, and it must have gon off this morning because my phone was on, so I probably went back to sleep. So anyway I put some clothes on and walked to kaias house, it began to rain I got wet, during the meeting it was very hard to stay focused due to tiered ness, and drowseyness, I’m getting a cold an it sucks, lots of snot, lots of spinning head and all that jazz.
After the meeting steve dropped me home and I fell asleep again, then woke up in time to go to rough edges, although I didn’t have $4.40 I only had $1.10 so I thought maybe I couldn’t go, but then i remembered my coin stash at the office so I walked up to the office, by this time it was pissing down with rain so I got really wet my umbrella was purely for aesthetic reasons giving no relief from the rain. But if I didn’t keep holding it up I would have looked like an idiot.
I got some change from the office and chatted to jen for a bit, then trained it to kings cross.
The internet was down at Rough edges and only one computer working so there wasn’t much I could do, so I came home. And here I am.
Last night was fun though, myself tom, sal and jo all went on a frivolous outing to manly where we walked and talked and sat and talked and drove and talked and we also did some hole punching in Belrose, my hole punching was better than sal’s even though she had a better hole punch mine had charm, genuine 1970′s charm infact.
