The aflicted man
We live in a world where equality is the aim, everyone has just as many rights as everyone else, a world where sex shouldn’t matter a world where height shouldn’t matter a world where religion shouldn’t matter and most importantly we live in a world where colour shouldn’t matter.
Where if your black you are just as important as someone who is yellow, or brown or even green.
But there is an exception, if you are red no one likes you, if you are red people will ignore you, if you are red people cant wait until your gone. Oh yes, people I’m talking about the red man on pedestrian crossings. We all love the little green man, we all give him the attention, we get all excited when he lights up our pathway, we cheer we clap. But when the green man goes back inside and it’s the red mans shift we groan and moan. The poor little red man, he sits up there all day and all night waiting for people to respond to him and interact with him, get excited when he is in shift, but no one ever does.
I’m taking a stand, I like to call it the “just walk” policy. If the red man is on shift standing proud and tall on his balcony atop the yellow pole I give him a wave and I walk across that road, sure I’m in danger of my life. But some times you have to take action sometimes you have to do the extreme to get your voice heard to stand up for the oppressed and afflicted.
So people I say to you. JUST WALK. Show the red man that he matters, show him you care, show him that you are willing to risk your life so that he is no longer just a man that no one likes. You can make a difference.
My weekend
Well I made it to Launceston airport on Friday afternoon, and stood out the front of the airport, not quite knowing who was picking me up, but eventually some dude came holding up a piece of paper that said “Howie” on it.
The weekend was quite fun, and the weather in Poatina was great, hot and sunny just how I like it. There was about 10 of us I think and we and workshops and did some filming and stuff, quite a productive weekend and quite worth while. Its exciting our media futures at work.
I had 3 bottles of coke in my time down in Poatina, Lots of chatter, lots of hospitality in that village its really nice. Don’t want to live there though!
On Monday I flew back, then caught the train up to hornsby and did jacks, then after jacks went and met jo and we went to the city.
I’m very tired, tomorrow will be my 10th consecutive day of work.
George W Bush recently toured a primary school and sat down in a classroom and decided that it would be ok for some of the kids to ask him questions.
Little Johnny put up his hand and said “Mr bush I have 3 questions”
George w said ok, go ahead,
Johnny asked, Where is Osama?, Where is Sadam? And where are the weapons of mass destruction?
The bell rang and the children where rushed outside before Mr Bush could answer.
After the break the children came back in to the classroom, and Mr Bush remained there to answer questions.
A little girl put up her hand and said I have some questions Mr Bush,
Where is Osama?, Where is Sadam? Where are the weapons of mass destruction? Why did the bell ring 20 mins early? And where is Johnny?
