What a fun day,

Yesterday was ‘Forest Family Fun Day’.
Earlier in the week Steve and I where meeting to discuss what we would do at fun day, like what activities and games we could do with the young people who where there on the day. We compiled a list of games and activities. Steve came back to me later in the week and told me that he was no longer able to help run games as he had to oversee the whole running of fun day. So it was now me that was in charge of games and stuff. We decided to go for messy games, involving shaving cream and chocolate sauce and stuff. Lots of shopping.
Then we arrived yesterday morning bright and early to set up stuff. Consulting maps and other fun day people. To cut a longer story a bit shorter, it turned out that in the end it was my job to oversee the whole area where youth stuff was happening which included all the novelty races, billy cart races, games, water balloon stuff and the people who where running and helping in those activities. I didn’t mind too much, I wasn’t overly keen on the idea but there wasn’t really any other options for people to do that. So I stepped up. It all went well, it didn’t go to plan, but it went well. Lots of young people around the place. The billy cart races ended up going non stop from midday til 4pm, not a brake between races. The starter of the billy cart races was a real trooper he was there for the whole time. He was telling me its his 4th year in a row doing the billy cart races. Kemp was good value too, she was only planning on volunteering from midday til 2pm but ended up coming at 11:30am and leaving with me at 5pm.
The messy games didn’t attract the hype we thought they would, but the young people who where involved in them had a lot of fun.
Mega phones are fun.
