Nothing in this world is free

Ryan and I have embarked on what seems to be quite a hard mission.

We have decided to stop being so Cynical for one month. To do this everytime we make a cynical coment we need to give a charity that we are normaly cynical towards 50 cents for each coment. We will kep a tally on a special website ryan is making and you can watch our progress.

My charity that i am awfully cynical towards is “World Vision”
And ryan has chosen “Fusion”

We are calling it: “OPERATION BETTER PEOPLE”

We began at 6:15pm and the tally at the moment stands at 19 cynbical comments by ryan meaning Fusion is getting $9.50 and I made 13 cynical comments meaning World Vision is getting $6.50

Did i miss any?

Today jo had no money so I offered to go and slap some money in her bank account. She gave me her card number and I went across to Hornsby to go give her money so she could afford to come and visit me. I filled out a deposit slip and stood in line waiting for a teller. I got to the front of the line and the lady said “that’s not an account number” I said No, it’s a card number its not my account I’m putting some money in for someone else. She then told me that she couldn’t do it with a card number she needed the actual account number. I asked if she could just look up the card number and put the money in the account on the card. I was trying to put money in not take it out. I was helping the bank, I thought banks like money. So she said no and I had to leave.. no money for jo. Then I thought I would go to St George to deposit some money in my own account. I went in and filled out a deposit slip. Then joined the line. St george lines are really long these days because they have gone from having about 20 tellers to 4. And only 2 of the 4 where available. So the line was massive. I stood in it for a while but I was making no progress. Then I remembered that the ATM outside takes cash deposits. So I went and put my card in and did my pin number then pressed the deposit button. The ATM made some crunching noises and the deposit slot started beeping loudly. On the screen it said “Insert enevelope”. The stupid ATM didn’t give me an envelope. Then it said “Thankyou, transaction complete” and it spat out my card.

Grrrrrrrr to banks.

Today was my day off. And what a day off it was.
It was a real day off i had the bestest day ever.

I woke up a bit after 11, then hung out just being silly with tom. Then we went up to hornsby and dropped in at the office to pick up a video off jen.

Then it was off to the climax of the day.

Tom and I went to a wiggles concert!

The concert was sold out but we hung at the RSL until there where two spare tickets because someone didn’t turn up or something. The guy behind the desk was very friendly. I called up earlier in the day to try and get tickets and they where sold out. But he told me to come up just before the concert was supposed to start and he would see what he could do.
Good on him. He came through with the goods. 2 tickets to the wiggles concert.

The RSL foyer was a sea of strollers and there where mum and little toddlers everywhere. Tom and i would have been the only people in the whole place who where not with a child.

We went into the Auditorium and sat in the very back row so that we could be less conspicuous about the whole thing.

It was awesome.

Greg was sick so they had a stand in replacing him named sam. Sam was good he sounded like greg and he looked like greg.

Captain feather sword did the best Guy Sebastian impersonation. It was awesome It was entertaining for the parents as well as the kids with them doing a full version of the old classic “eagle rock”.

A mighty fine afternoon.

The worlds biggest children’s performers only 10 minutes from our house.

And only $15 each.

After the wiggles we went to Westfield and tom bought 2 DVD’s (matchbox 20 and Robbie Williams). We had some subway and came home to watch Robbie. That was fun too.

Then it was household night we all had dinner together and chatted and prayed…

a mighty fine day all round.

Camp, Wheelie bins and party skills

general chit chat 4 Comments

Well the foundations camp is over, Deb’s 21st is over, and vistitng the scariest youth group in the history of the universe is over. Not to mention the end of a massive week is now over.

What a week!

The camp was good, some real good time with God as a group and just for me. Good ol’ God he’s a good fella, very patient, very good to me.

Deb’s party was good too, I was defiantly scared, I have never been known for my party skills, but a good time with tim. Happy birthday Debbie.

Youth group visit was one of the scariest nights of my life. “wheelie bin races and shopping trolly derby” was the name of the evening. The name really says it all. The cops came twice, the manager of coles once. A bit of blood, bruises. Scary scary stuff.

Man I am so tired. Steve and I where in a room together at the camp, and on Friday night it was just us so we had a bottom bunk each. But last night another guy joined us and he slept above me on the top bunk. Only the problem was that he seemed to move every 4 seconds meaning when he moves it shock the whole bunk so it made it quite difficult to sleep. Infact I would compare it to severe turbulence, not just turbulence but he also talked very loudly in his sleep.

So not much sleep last night at all..Very very tired. But life is grand.

Hungry?

Today jen and I walked across to Westfield to go to the bank, get some lunch and find deb a birthday present.

As we walked across the bridge and approached Westfield jen saw a truck then we both looked at the truck and by this stage we where off the bridge, but it needed a photo so I ran back up the stairs and took a photo.
meat truck.jpg
It was apparent that the truck was full of carved up animals, discharge from the butcher that it was parked in front of.

We walked past the truck and I then took this photo.
meat truck 2.jpg
Mmmm yum.

I now have no questions as to why people become vegetarians,

The driver of the truck saw me taking the photo and said “Look at the ones under the canopy they are pre cooked” then he gave of a sinister laugh.

Life is really full on at the moment, so busy. And it doesn’t seem to have much of a sign of slowing down anytime soon. I think it’s a good crazy, I’m enjoying all the things I’m doing a lot, but it’s the whole “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”

I getting a bit of rest here and there.

Mother Teresa, now there is an inspirational lady.

“Like Jesus we belong to the world living not for ourselves but for others. The joy of the Lord is our strength.”

“A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt, must empty ourselves. The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace”
