The 11:45 dream express
The 11:45 dream express
I was thinking about dreams last night before I went to bed.
How cool would it be if dreams ran on timetables, so that there was a dream starting say every 10 minutes. So if you went to bed at 11:35 and you fell asleep straight away you would catch the 11:45 dream.
If some nights you went to bed and you had a bad dream, say the 9:55 dream is always a bad dream, then you could just go to bed 10 minutes later and catch the 10:05 dream instead.
Like train services different dreams could have different journeys,
Example
8:35pm early bird feel good dream about being famous
8:45pm slightly adventurous dream getting lost in a crowd all ends well
8:55pm soft focus romance dream everything is perfect
9:05pm terrorists take over your work place you save the day
9:15pm never ending dream about not being able to get to sleep, keep waking up
9:25pm hollywood dream, whole dream looks like a film, cuts, fades and soundtrack
9:35pm the conversational dream, with only you and one other person in the whole dream
9:45pm sad dream, someone dies, you cry a lot, wake up feeling scared, then realise it was just a dream.

Today chris and i went to Newtown to listen to the Barney Wakeford quartet, which included spike masin on sax, phil swan on drums and some random on bass. oh and barney was on the piano.
It was at this cool bar in Newtown called the “Vanguard bar”. A very nice building.
Anyway it was a lot of fun, good jazz, good company.

church was fun
maccas was fun
I’m fun
Shrek 2

Well I know it came out quite a while ago but I have been busy so I only just got around to watching it.
Jo and I went together…awwwwwww.
I have to say that I was quite good. I have been quite skeptical of shrek 2. I figured that dreamworks was just trying to cash in on the shrek wave. Like all other studios who keep making sequels these days so they can make extra cash with out having to really develop another story or find new actors.
But no I was pleasantly surprised with shrek 2. It was fun, their was new characters it was still very sharp, there was some form of story, their was lots of cross references to other films and fairy tales. A good show all around. I did think that the giant ginger bread man could probably have been worked a bit more, had potential I reckon.
Having Antonio banderis in an animation was good because you didn’t have to look at his real face. Puss in boots was fun too.
Animation is the bomb, good work dreamworks.
I’m giving Shrek 2 6 out of 7.
GO see it you haven’t already, chances are I’m one of the last people in the world to see it, but if you haven’t seen it go see it and if you have seen then go see it again.
Also how good was the new counting crows song at the beginning of the film
The name game
I was reading Jen’s post about her name (or should I say jenny’s post) and it set of similar emotions and reactions in myself.
When introducing myself I normally introduce myself as Howie, or sometimes if I’m feeling a bit nervous or uncomfortable or something I introduce myself as Robert.
Now I’m not a big fan of Robert and it most used when I feel I need to be a bit more formal and if I tell someone my name is Robert then well they should call me Robert.
But as the years have gone by more and more people know me as Howie, which I have to say is a much better name. SO when I get introduced to people its normally “this is Howie”
Rarely is it “this is Robert”
But then what gives people the right to call me Rob. I hate the name rob, and never in my life have I introduced myself as Rob. But it spreads like wildfire, as soon as one person calls you Rob, all their friends and collegues start calling you Rob and then its goes too far cause you cant just tell one person that your name is not Rob that it is actually Robert or Howie. You have to tell half the world and that’s just not logistically possible.
Its got to the point where I write my name as Robert Howie on an application form and when I receive my name badge and stuff it says “Rob Howie”.
There are 2 of my close friends who call me Rob and it doesn’t seem to bother me but anyone else….Dont.
The other problem with Robert is that I am becoming less and less likely to respond to the name Robert. Not intentionally it just happens, like if I am in a room with lots of people and someone on the other side of the room says Robert it hardly blink an eyelid where as in the past I would be quite alert and try and hear what they are saying. But these days because I very rarely get called Robert I don’t notice it that much and when people say it I don’t notice.
Then Howie has its problems too. Of I am in a room with lots of people I constanty here my name. not because I’m some latino heart throb that everyone is talking about but because Howie also is the way that many people say “how are we”. Like “how we gonna pay for this”. So my brain pick up on the “how we” and becomes very alert and often I say “what” as I try to join the conversation about me but then realise its not actually about me and they never used my name.
blog stats
entire blog up to now is 129,292 words.
and this is my 981st post
The Stepford Wives
Quite a strange film.
I think filmmakers tend to put too much make-up on Nicole Kidman in all her films.
Anyway the plot of the film was quite quirky and the script was quite sharp and witty in places. Aswell as being quite hollywood and weak in other places.
There is a robotoc dog in the film that seems to be there for some unwitty comic relief only the dog is a computer graphic and looks quite bad, almost like the animator was sick for a week so his 12 year old son came into the office and fiddled around in microsoft paint to create the dog for the film.
It was a very good looking film, nice bright colours, I think Austin Powers was a bit of a trend setter with its very bright style of film and now it is quite popular with light comedies. Its good i like the look.
I recomend “The Stepford Wives”. Its quite a short film so it wont take up too much of your time, its light hearted, its bright, its witty.
I give it 4.5 out of 7
Message Rules
I love message rules in outlook our outlook express same thing.
anyway today as part of my battle against “high priority” emails i have created a message rule that sende all emails that come into my inbox as high priroty straight to a folder calloed “read later”.
High priority emails anoy me, what gives someone the right to use “high Priority”…nothing thats what!
There should be an aplication process for high priority and until you have been approvved you have to send your emails as “Low priority” unless its a very importnat and you can just send it normally. but not “high priority….
You have no right…
Lots of you do it….And now you will pay for your selfish acts.
Billy Boy oh Billy boy
Spent a lot of today restoring my computers setting and installing sotfware. Silly Bill Gates he makes lif difficult. It all seems to be working now. just took all day. And three instilations of windows
1st floor
I thought of another addition to my “perfect job list”
A lift operator,
Those dudes that wear funky uniforms and sit on a stool in lifts in big buildings pressing the buttons for the comuters. Oh man that would be a fun job, i love lifts, and you could sit in a lift all day and talk to people and say “Going up”
oh how much the bomb
spew, car crash and a broken server
Well this morning I vommited.
It brought back bitter memories of a few weeks ago when i was sick.
Hung out with the kempster today… good old jo, i had missed jo its been ages since i saw here and i’m about to go away again. poor jo.
I had to do a poo in westfield today, i was feeling quite sick and went to the bathroom, luckily it was only a poo, i prefer poo to vommit. Still not feeling great, but feeling great enough to eat half a packer of wafer biscuits.
After jacks i was walking down to the office and then beside me 2 cars crashed. I felt like i was in a music film clip and i was the singer man and the world was falling apart around me oblivious to me. It wasnt a major car crash. the driver in the red car didnt look very happy.
Also our server is dead at work.
Its really cold in our office so we have lots of heaters going. the problem with lots of heaters is that the power trips in the building sometimes. I think today it tripped just once to many times. We might have fried the hard disk….oooops
I’m sure that its Bill Gates fault, i’m not sure how all i know is that it is.
