The other day just before one of my interactions with the Adelaide ladies. I ordered some noodles from wok in a box, they asked for my name.
Then when my food was ready they called out “Calby” and on my box it said Calby. So there you go no more hoiwe, i’m now Calby.

Calby is a pretty cool name.

The road trip for me is drawing to a close. Tomorrow i fly out from Adelaide at 5:30pm. Off to tasmania until the 24th of jan.

I’m looking forward to being home after that. I miss home. I’m damn sick of living out of a suitcase, it feels like i have been living out of a suitcase forever. THere was Armidale over christmas and before that Queensland and before that conference and before that Athens and before that more tassie.

I want to stay at home.

has been a good road trip, much sillyness and much fun.
Good people to go away with.

i think i might take more holidays this year and days off, it feels good to relax and recharge.

today is just a day of hanging in the city, some people are together some alone its just a day of doing whatever. At the moment myself tom, helen, jo and ryan are in this internet cafe.

its all about being ingenious

THere have been three occurences so far in my time in Adelaide where i have been aproached by women in some form or another.
this sort of thing never happens to me and none of the other boys on this trip have experienced it either.

Number One

We where standing in a crowded bar in downtown Adelaide after a day on the town. The group of us were standing in the back corner of teh bar. I went and got a drink then came back and was standing on the edge of the group facing inwards. Then out of the blue some girl i have never met or seen before grabbed my bum on her way to the toilet. She didnt stopped it was a drive by.

Number Two

Last night when everyone was at the moonlight cinema and i was catching transport making the most of my daytripper. I was walking along a main road towards the river so i could sit down for a while and read my bible and just relax. It was about 10pm. There i was walking along the footpath and some girls where walking behind me. They were walking a bit faster than me and eventually passed me, but in the process of passing one of them grabbed my bum. They giggled and laughed and kept walking. I didnt really respond becasue i didnt want to have to take my headphones off becasue i was in the middle of REM ‘night swimming’ and i like that song.

Number Three

Today after getting off the tram we all split up to go get lunch and then meet together again and eat it. I went to Wok in a Box with Tom and David. David got his food and left. Then i got my food and left. I was walking along back to the place of meeting and a girl behind me said “excuse me, excuse me” I tunred around, she said “i think thats my coke you have” I told her i was pretty sure it was mine. She then asked me a question whcih i dont want to repeat on my blog.

girls in adelaide seem to be quire forward.

I did end up going on a tram last night.
I malso went on the O-bahn again and several other random busses. I had to make use of my daytripper.

so much fun.

railway crossing

Today was our “alone” day in Adelaide.
But Ryan and i spent the whole day together so far.
We took a train out to Port Adelaide and visited the Railway Museum. Oh boy it was so fun, so many old steam trains and carriges and diesel trains and freight carriges and model trains and a little train that you got to ride on.
I reckon heaven will be like a railway museum and attached to the museum will be an O-bahn.!!

Anyway the railway museum was the coolest, lots of little old men working their all very proud of the trains.

Then we walked around Port Adelaide for a bit and went on a bus to a Westfield before getting on another bus back to the city.

I might go on a tram a bit later. We bought daytripper tickeets, only $6.40 for all the train and bus and tram you can handle in a day.

oh i love transport.

ohhhhhhhhhhh-bahn

I love transport. I’m such a little boy but i love trains and busses and boats and planes…

Today was my highlight of the trip so far. More exciting than shooting guns.

Today we went on the Adelaide O-bahn,
its cool its just normal busses traveling along a custom made concrete track through the city. they go up to 100kn an hour and are so the coolest thing ever.

oh so so fun.

i’m in love.

toot toot

Yesterday was our first day actually traveling in to Adelaide to hang out.
On the way in jo’s car broke down so we had to push it around a corner and wait for the fix it man. He came and started the car and sent us off to a auto electircian. As we where doing this Tom and Ryan went to park the van in the city and happened to wlak past an indoor pistol range. So they called me and asked if i wanted to go shooting with them. I said yes.

They came and picked us up in the hannah van.

Then it was off to the pistol range.

We got 50 rounds of live amuniton using glock 9mm semi automatic guns.

The man was very friendly to me and knew i had dodgy eyes. He offered to move the target closer but i said it would be ok. My gun kept jamming and had to keep coming over and un-jamming it for me.

THe first time i picked up the loaded gun my hands were sweating quite a lot. Very scary. But after a while it became less scary. By saying less scary i mean less, cause it was still quite scary.

I never gota bulls eye but i didnt do too badly.
I had 2 dodgy rounds so the gun man said i could shoot to shots using his gun. ( which he seems to just carry around loaded on his hip).
So i had 2 shots with that. It was crazy, it was heaps more powerful than the gun i was using before, infact in kind of puched my arm back into my shoulder when i fired.

tom took a photo of me which i have posted.

today we are back in the city. going to have some lunch soon. i like lunch then a sleep in a park for a while before we see a film.

guns are scary i tell ya!
