litle fish

popcorn and choc tops 1 Comment

This afternoon Jenny and I saw little fish at Castle Towers.

I think it was a good film, cool to see big famous actors come home and do a local Australian film, and also good to see some regulars on the Australian screen like lisa Mc cune and noni hazelhurst.

It was a pretty in your face kind of film in terms of language and drug use and the affects of drug use. Which is probably pretty close to the lives of so many people in our city. Cate Blanchett was good as a 32 year old ex heroin addict who is trying to get her life on track and start up her on internet café on the side of a video store which she works in. The problem I found with the film is that it didn’t end all that well there wasnt enough closure and I would be surprised if there is a sequel. So it had potential and could have had a happy or bad ending but in the end it didn’t really have an ending the credits just played.

I don’t often see (MA) films, but I did see this one and I give it 4.5/7

one last pill then its back to my dealer

I have been on sleeping tablets for a month or two now. THey are pretty good but i’m only allowed to take them 3 times a weeks, my doctor said they are addictive so 3 a week will help regulate sleep but not make my body addicted to them and then only being able to sleep if i take them.

Anyway the nights that i take them are normally pretty good nights sleep. But the problem i have is that for about the last week i have had only one left. And i’m saving it, Its hard to pick a good ngiht to use, man i want to use it, i’d love a good nights sleep but when is the best night? Sunday night casue gives me a fresh start to the week? Wednesday night to have a good sleep in the middle of a week to get me over the hump? Friday night to end a long week with a good sleep?

so many choices.

maybe i’ll just take it tonight.

boys and cars

Today Tom and Anmol and myself went off to the Australian International Motor Show.
It was a lot of fun. That’s what boys do they look at cars. And boy there was some cool cars there.

This first photo is of the entrance to the cross city tunnel from the Pyrmont side of the city. The 2 lanes on the left of the screen are the ramp down to the tunnel. The other lanes are the road that takes you through the city. As you can see the cross city tunnel is really quite popular. One day a car will drive thought it!….maybe….

this is part of the view from the top of the Mitsubishi display.

Me driving some car.

Tom with a broken piece of car. (he didn’t brake it)

This baby will only set you back $8 Million

2 Ferraris

Toyota’s new concept mobility vehicle. The future of old people on footpaths.

upright it can got at 6km/h but when its laying down up to 40km/h

This is my favourite car of the show, it’s a holden concept car that cost $1 Million to build I think it had a V12 engine or something but man it was good looking.

all in all it was a fun day, a real boys day out.

Today at work jenny and I were sent off to ikea to get an estimate cost of new furniture to fit out one of works enterprises. What fun it was, we got a pencil and a tape measure and a shopping list. We weaved our way through the maze of alan key fastened furnishings. Sitting on chairs and couches and measuring table heights. Imagine if once a week it was ones duty to search through ikea.
what fun.

the other fantastic thing in my day was the divine taste and experience of a bubble o’ bill ice cream, man they are good.

pop quiz

general chit chat 6 Comments

I stole this questionnaire thingy from b’s blog.

1.If money were no object, what would you be doing with your life?

I’d probably be living on a massive property, that I would turn into a massive theme park. (and no it would not be like the neverland ranch). And I would work in the theme park, probably driving the train that goes right around the park.

2. Money is just that - an object, so why aren’t you doing it?

Because I don’t have that “object” which they call money. well I have some money but only enough to buy a few lunches in the foodcourt.

3. What’s better: horses or cows?
cows, they have fun spots, they have udders which are both useful and amusing and their skin makes good wallets.

4. What do you think the secret to happiness is?
The secret to happiness is the following, well the following are tools which are required if you which to reach a state of happiness.
A practical and sustained relationship with God
A 600ml coke
Sunlight
DVD’s
Friends
a comfy bed
toothpaste
underpants
and the joy of others smiling.

5. When was the last time you had a dream that you either remember well or did not want to awake from? Can you share a bit?
I remember my dreams in the morning but then by the time I get in the shower I have forgotten most of my dream. I don’t like waking up from dreams that are fun or something big is about to happen. Often my dreams are like watching television like the camera angle changes and stuff.

6. When you were a little kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A milkman or a train driver

7. Complete this statement: Love is……
love is educational

8. Can you tell a good story?
When I was in London in 1992 I was on the London underground with my parents and we pulled into an abandoned station. It was weird and the doors of the train didn’t open. But the train just sat there. Then an announcement came over the stations PA system saying “guard, do not open the train doors this station has been evacuated due to a bomb threat”. My mum was quite freaked. So there we where sitting on a train in an evacuated station. Eventually the train moved on and we got to our station. was that good enough story?

9. Can you remember your last daydream? What was it about?
just today, I was in ikea getting so much fun stuff, not just looking but buying it.

10. If you were to thank someone today, who would you thank?
I’d thank Jenny. thankyou jenny.

busy bee

general chit chat 3 Comments

On my way to work this morning i was walking along the footpath. Then suddenly i found myself walking towards a massive swarm of bees. It was huge i have never seen so many bees. Being alergic to bee stings i didnt really feel comfortable standing there or prceeding so i swiflty about faced and proceeded in the opposite direction down the footpath. I crossed the road and walked back in the right direction. Its a four lane road but i could still see and hear the swarm from the other side of the road.

I rang hornsby council to see what they could do, becasue i figure its not good if they are all over the footpath. They sad we have a number for that and gave me a mobile number. I called the number and a friendly man asked where the bees were, i told him. he said “thats the councilcs problem, how did you get my number” I said from the council. “then he swore and abused the council for not taking care of their own problems” He said it wasnt up to me casue if i call him him then its me who pays for him to remove the bees. So he told me not tro worry and that it ws the councils problem and that he will wait for the council to call him.

I dont think the council will call him.

alla bit dodgy.

so if you are waling along the pacific highway across from reef aquariuma in hornsby careful of the bees

strike- what a day

The day began with ten pin bowling. Oh it took me back to my youthful days and it was good to se that my sporting abilities have not improved whatsoever in the last decade. I never was a sporty kind of guy. But i did manage to still come second in the second game. It was fun. After bowling it was off to pie in the sky for pie then to jenny grandparents house where i got in trouble from jennys grandma for having bleached hair. very cute is jennys grandma.
And then i had afternoon tea with david we had afternoon tea at donut king and then played daytona and some shooting game at timezone.
And then i had a nap and then jenny and i went to phils party and he had a cake that was a donut cake it was a big cake in the shape of a 30 and it was just a massive donut. you get them from donut king.

so all in all was a good day. and tomorrow well tomorrow i have no plans and thats the way i like it. i can sleep and then wake whenever i want and do what ever i want. ah the bliss of weekends and days off work.
Imagine if someone said “howie take 5 months off work” oh that would be music to my ears.

shirts off summer didn’t go all that well for me last summer. But this year its going to have a rebirth. Shirts off summer is officially opened. today was a lovely day and a nice day to open the season. So jenny and I went off to some beach on the northern beaches and I laid there browning myself.
Then it was off to Warriewood shopping centre for lunch.

Jenny dropped me off at Wahroonga park on the way home and I slept in the park for about an hour before going and getting Hannah from her holiday program. In the time that I fell asleep in the park my legs got quite badly burnt and now they are sore.

Oh I remember Cityrail didn’t dog me today infact it was the opposite.I went up to the ticket window at Wahroonga to buy my ticket and did so.

then Hannah and I walked back to the end of the platfor to sit and wait for the train. After a few minutes the little bearded cityrail man came up and said “you left this $1 at the window” and gave it to me. Yay for cityrail.

an off day

Today I had a day off from work and it was fantastic. I had about 12 hours sleep last night which was much needed, I havent slept well at all in the last few weeks. So that was a fantastic start to a 2 day holiday for me. Then after i had awoken and showered and shaved the lovely jenny came and picked me up and we hung out at her house for a while, i got to meet some relatives and see my buddy debbbie again. Then we ventured off to Manly where we had some food from coles and sat around chatting and then we went up to north head and looked out over the city lights. oh how romantic.

and now i’m home.

stumped

general chit chat 4 Comments

It didn’t rain!

As usually blackstump was quite the awesome. Although there were a few strange occurrences that i have the pleasure of sharing with you.

On the friday afternoon i travelled down to stump with tom and some others from belrose, which was nice. It was good to be back at stump, i was volunteering at the TEAR cafe for a fair bit of stump, which is good because i got a free ticket and i got to help TEAr but dodgy cause i had the graveyard shift to nights in a row after a week and a half in tasmania getting little sleep at the conference.
Anyway i was walking back from the cafe to my tent at about 1:30am and as i was walking down the road there was a boy standing ahead of me. a bunch of girls were walking kind of close to me towards the boy and he said to one of them “you have a very nice chest” the girls kept walking and and muttered a few offensives. Quite a pick up line if i didnt have a lady i might try it. Actually no i wouldnt really.

Then after a short sleep. i woke and went to have a shower. whilst in the shower there was some boys in showers opposite me and they where loud and laughing at each other. One of them was telling the others to look into the drain becasue he was pooing into the drain from the shower. Bit gross really. Then a little while after this one of them shouted that his towel had been stolen then so did the others and low and behold so had mine. Eventually it was found by a nice fella who got it out of the sink that was further down the bathroom.

My other poo story was that this morning i went to drop the kids off at the pool and my traditional cubical was too gross to to use so i was on the prowel for another toilet to park my date over. Most of them had floaters or wee everywhere, quite gross and then there was one, it was a white seated toilet that had a brown collage of artistic fecal media smeared across the seat. How do you get poo on the seat if you are sitting on it.
I eventually went and found a reasonable cubical to do my business then headed for the shower only to find that the first shower i walked into had a poo sitting on the floor in the middle of it.
i moved to a different shower.

I know so far my documenting of stump hasnt been all that uplifting but i had an aswomse time, good music, good friends, good atmosphere and good community. Although i did stumble in a moment of weakness and agree to helping my work do some festival stuff.

All in all stump 05 rocked.
