From the outset I should say that I wasn’t impressed with my first hearing of this CD yesterday. I thought yeah it sounds a bit arty, and if that what you like then well done but personally I got a bit bored of quiet vocals and very trble-ish music.
But after a bit of investigation and a jiggle of my speaker cables I realized that it was not the mix but rather my speakers and cables having a cry.

Once the problem was rectified I was able to actually listen to the album the
way it was meant to be listened to. And this time I liked what I heard

A bit more meaty than his other albums I thought. More chunky guitar, tight rhythm and as usual his twisted insightful lyrics are an instrument of their own.
I would say this is Steve’s best album so far, its god style its easy to listen too but at the same time if you concentrate on it you hear all these different melodies going on between the layers. My favourite track is track 10 ‘train to the city’ but I think that’s because it mentions trains.

I recommend buying this little CD, but no need to rush out and get it, liten to the tracks online first, then if you like what you hear go on and buy it.

My only complaint is the cardboard CD cover, I hate carboard covers, they tear and get wrinkled and its hard to get your CD out of them.

Howie, I thought you would have worked out your cables after all this time. In fact, I thought you carried a box of cables and wires with you…

Glad you like the new CD, even if it is housed in board… It’s got pretty colours though, hasn’t it?

Here’s a link to myspace where you can hear the first single if you’d like a taste…
(sorry it’s a long link to paste in your browser…)
