cityrail and dogging the code

11:05 am general chit chat

On Friday night I was sitting on Hornsby station waiting for a train that would take me to Rhodes where I was gonna hang out with joshy.

Then over the PA system an angry sounding man said “baring yourself on the platform is not permitted”

Quite an odd message to hear on a station, maybe there was some nudie person up the other end of the station waiting for a train.

After josh and I had finished hanging out I went back to Rhodes station to get a train home. It was a bit after 11pm. I sat there a no train came, I sat there a bit longer and no train came. There was supposed to be one at 11:48pm but it didn’t come and at about 12:30 I decided to call 131 500 and I got a recorded message saying that someone had been hit by a train at epping so all trains on the northern line where not running. I figured there would be trains eventually so I waited more. I walked to try and find a night ride bus stop but couldn’t find one. So I walked over to Ryde road to see if I could get a normal bus to some other train station. But the only bus I could find was one that went to top ryde and I had missed the last one of them.
So back to the station for more sitting.
Eventually a train did come at about 1:20 and I got home at 2am.

And that was my Friday night adventures.

Saturday was a work thing all day so not the most exciting day ever. But Saturday night was fun, sam myself , jenny and Debbie all went out to the SCG for the swans game. Sam and I had very sore throats by the end casue we shouted so much, I think jenny and debbie were embarrassed..

Sunday was picnic day jenny and I went to apple tree bay.
Sunday night we dogged church.

I’m not a big fan of the church getting so hyped up about The Da Vinci code and how people need to know the truth. ITS FICTION!!!!
Seriously you would have to be pretty doughy to think that it was all truth, seeing as the book was only written a few years ago. Anyway that’s why I dogged church last night casue it was “decoding da vinci”.
Bah just let people read the book and enjoy the story.

I’ve been thinking the same thing - it’s fiction - the more we bang on about it the more books the guy sells and the more cred he gets. Personally I borrowed a mates copy and read it to see what the hype was about - apart from recognising the basic story from some other stuff I have it was a pretty crappy book - poorly written with no surprises cos everything is telegraphed. Full of forced circumstances and average descriptions and fairly sketchy characters. A Pot Boiler and nothing more.

The one good thing is that - even though it is tied to da vinci code - at least some of the scholarship of the truth of the bible and it’s accuracy and how it came about is being shared with congregations that in the normal course of events may never hear about it or not care if they did.

I miss you City Rail. There is nothing quite like getting stuffed around by Sydney’s finest..

But, sadly not everyone has such insight into things. Certainly there have been lots of people who have read the book, recognised some of the truths in it and assumed that the rest of it is true. A friend of mine told a story of a guy who came up to him after reading it and said “Where’s your Christianity now?”.
To simply state that people should be left to enjoy the story is naive. Yes, it was only written a few years ago, but to the less well educated in such things, the way he puts his points across and the sources that he claims can sound convincing. Mosty people do no know that he manipulates and misrepresents the Gospel of Thomas etc. Sure, we don;t want to over-hype the Code (too late), but there does need to be some repsonse to it.
Sorry to disagree with you, but I think you’re mistaken.

Speaking from a country where people nearly got the film baned, and people threatened violence if it were to be shown, I have no problem with the film.

Religious types need to get a grip. It is FICTION come on it has Tom Hanks in it.

If your religion can’t deal with being challenged in public there is something wrong.

Jumping up and down everytime someone says something that contridicts your beliefs makes it seem like your very unsure in your faith. Sure calmly and rationally explain the inaccuracies in the book or movie but don’t make a fuss.

I haven’t had a chance to see the movie yet cause it got it’s opening delayed by one week. Oh and here in India it gets a “work of fiction” banner at the start of the film.

I’ll probably go and see it, because it’s a blockbuster and to show those who threatend and are upset about it that they only making the film more interesting. However I am going to see X Men 3 first because it looks like a much better movie :-).
