There is a billboard outside a church in hornsby that says “Jesus loves Osama”
today when we drove past the sign it had a big hole burnt into the middle of it.

There’s been massive controversy over thos billboards in the paper over the last few weeks… I am surprised people are still putting them up.
Normally i hate those signs near church’s, they are always so tacky.
this one i’m still undecided on, in a way i like it cause its a bit controversial, but i’m not really sure what message its trying to give.
Its true Jesus does love osama, just not sure why we need to read that on a big sign
When you say a big hole burnt do you mean like someone has taken a flame thrower to it?
it did look like something had been thrown at it, like a small petrol bomb or something
i walked past it today and noticed the burntness! and i thought to myself…”how unaustralian”
or is it in fact very australian?
my 2 cents worth is that it’s well intentioned advertising that hasn’t been thought through. i reckon people in the church – many of them – would know what you mean, that of course Jesus loves everyone. However, the way the sign looks, with the camo background and the target audience – it’s looks like it’s saying that Jesus supports terrorism. Most people would not have the church background to interpret it otherwise.
If they are going to say publicly that Jesus loves Osama, then they should add something like that he hates terrorism – even that’s simplistic, since the terrorists have also come out of an environment where they have suffered huge injustices. He hates all injustice – terrorism included.
Maybe the burn was like that bit at the end of raiders of the lost ark where the logo on the packing crate the ark is in, mysteriously burns of its own accord. i reckon that’s it
