Last night I saw ‘Transformers’

transformers.jpg

Before the movie we went out to dinner and Tom managed to knock over Lezalee’s glass of red wine. Which ended up all over the white shorts I was wearing!

Somehow in the lead up to going to chatswood I managed to loose my ticket to the movie too.

The cinema man was very nice and let me go see the movie anyway, Nathan who bought the tickets showed the man his recipt proving that i was not trying to sneak in.

I came into this movie have fairly low expectations, firstly I was never a transformers fan when i was a kid, I found it all a bit too scary and felt much safer watching the epic tales of the Care Bears. Also I didnt think transformers was going to be very good becasue old school cartoons dont always have the same impact when hollywood gets hold of them.

But this film was fantastic, it was funny, there was some kick arse fighting, and the effects where pretty cool. I was really supriesed at how funny it was, there was little gags all over the shop. The only thing I didnt really like about the film was that the Sector 7 man was a doosh bag, his charactor was crap, and also some of the robot fight scenses it was a bit hard to see what was going on. More of a technical thing, there wasnt a lot of wide shots showing the fighting lots of close up robotic bits attacking each other whcih i dont know it somehow made the fight scenes a bit less dramatic for me.

It was very interesting to see the sudden response from the Government to act on the problem of alcoholism and child abuse in remote Aboriginal communities specifically in the Northern territory.

Howard announced yesterday that the government was going to take control and over the next 5 years emplace a 6 month ban on the sale, transportation and consumption of alcohol in these remote communities.

The idea is that by banning drinking and pornography that the now disturbing rate of child abuse will decrease significantly. I know already that there are many many dry communities in the NT. Where Indigenous communities have realized that the bottle is destroying their lives and those around them so they have created dry communities. It hasn’t been easy and some communities even don’t allow vehicles into their community unless there is a lock on the fuel tank to that people cant extract the petrol and sniff it.

I think it’s a good idea to help indigenous communities to loose the bottle and bring back the strong communities they once had.  Part the the problem however with the Governments new strategy is that they haven’t recognized that it is our fault they have gotten into this situation. Before whit man there was not alcohol. Also a lot of Aboriginal people have a very negative view and respect for the government, which in many cases is highly understandable given the treatment of Aboriginal people in this country since our invasion.
If the government suddenly sends in this ban backed by a hoard of police surely that is just going to get indigenous people off-side even more. Alcoholism is a chemical addiction, and if suddenly everyone has to go cold turkey it could have a dramatic effect.

It seems a bit to much to me. Surely there are less aggressive ways to help communities loose the bottle. Not just send in the troops.
I don’t know I don’t really have any answers just seems a bit tough.

today in the office the phone kept ringing then when i picked up there would just be a dial tone. every now and then the fax machine would make a funny noise too.

I picked up the phone after a while just to see if anything was wrong and there was a lady there she had been calling all morning and it was only casue i happened to pick the phone up then that she go through, the problem was that over the top of the lady speaking i could still hear the dial tone and then the hand up ‘beep beep beep’ as well.

stupid phone line had gone crazy, jenny called telstra to report the problem and they diverted the work number to her mobile. they should have it fixed by the 25th of June they said in an sms later in the day.

then this afternoon i had the displeaseure of calling sould to enquire about a $5 increase to my bill. It seem i have been given an extra service of a ‘data line’ that i did not ask for. I called up and was on hold for 24mins before a customer service man put me on hold for another 5 mins while he worked out what was gonig on with my bill.

Dogs!

he canceled the service, but still have to pay for it for the last month!

whilst i was on hold they kept playing this ad for soul, for every person i refer to soul they will give me a $40 myer voucher. hahahahaha like hell i would refer anyone to the dogs.

ocean13.jpg

The perfect friday evening.

Wife and I just saw ‘oceans thirteen’.

It was pretty good, george clooney is so cool. it was good to see all the boys back on the casino floor after the misshap of oceans 12 which really wasnt all that impressive. The only thing i didnt like in this film was the super computer that ran security in the new casino but apart from that it was pretty good.

Go see this movie.

6/7

yet again we saw this movie for free thanks to our booklet of movie money ’screen saver’ vouchers. the downside is that there is now only 4 free movies left, or 2 left if jenny decided to take me aswell.

is this normal?

The nurse said to me yesterday that my arm would be sore for a few days, that it would be too sore to sleep on asweel.

She also told me not to lift or carry anything heavy with my left arm.

the thing is damn sore, i cant even lift my hand, my fingers are too heavy.

arm hurts, its your fault

general chit chat 1 Comment

just back from the doc, where the nurse jabbed 3 needles into my arms.

the frist one in my left arm hurt, not the needle itself but the bit that hurt was the feeling of the liquid spreading down the veins in my arm, it made my fingers all curl up.

then another jab in my right arm not so bad then back to the left arm for the final jab.

i cant lift my left arm up without it hurting now.

stupid kenya.
