play

church plays, school dramas are things that i can’t stand. Especially if it’s involving young people. they make me cringe. But yesterday whilst visiting a high school out oxford falls way i found myself almost mildly enjoying a drama piece.

I’m slipping, next thing you know i’ll start to mildly enjoy interpretive dance.

flight of fancy

Wifie got me season one of ‘flight of the conchords’ on dvd for my birthday.

I didnt get to see all the episodes on tv. Man they are funny boys. They make me want to make television, only problem is i’m not all that funny in the smae sense as these boys.

They are so clever with the script and their songs oh it’s comic brilliance.

Still here

I’m still here in Lower Plenty, still and still it’s not plentiful.

One more sleep and i can come home to sydney town.

conferences are sometimes only just bearable and other times quite fun. this one fluctuates a lot.

Community.

Jenny and I are pleased to announce that we now have confirmation of accommodation for the next year and a bit.

It would seem that God has done his thing and hooked up with some buddies down here on planet earth.

We are going to be moving into the famous forbes street house with the super hot single tom. And not just living there but also taking part in some sort of experimental, disconbobulated, attempt at a bunch of people in 3 different dewllings doing stuff together with Jesus as our role model. Some people would call this ‘community’. but community is for hippies so we’ll stick to not having a name and just trying to live more openly towards the people around us.

anyway its all rather nice and should be tops. So good on keith and stella for pissing off to Alice springs and also good on to jane and john for wanting to start a new adventure.

And super good job to God for being sneaky and pulling this all together.

I’m in Hazelbrook capturing hours and hours of video footage onto a lovely mac pro.

the problem is there is about 10 hours of footage to capture, and i’m bored.

final cut is a beautiful program but when all you are editing is 10,  1 hour grabs of a talking head its not interesting.

lounging around

We are at Adelaide Airport hanging out in the virgin lounge. Taking advantage of  free eats and drinks and a comfy couch watching olympics.

Our plane has been delayed by at least 30 mins.

Might have a nap.

bahahahahaha

In other news it seems someone who is not brave enough to leave their name has had a whinge becasue jenny and I are on a holiday when we should be home saving money becasue there is a baby coming. people in our position shouldn’t be holidaying.

Our position???? what the hell, it’s moslty old people but also some younger ones that have this belief that if someone is a missionary and poor then they shouldnt be spending any money on luxury items and holidays. they should be working 24 / 7 and living of bread and drippings.

I think that’s crap we deserve holidays just as much as anyone else. Yes we are poor. and it is becasue we are poor that we took this holiday. My parents paid for this holiday because we are all aware that we will not be able to afford a break for a long time.

why arnt we just saving the money my parents gave us? becasue its money specifically for holidays, its in a special holiday account and is there becasue if we dont have it we will never ever be able to take breaks. But i guess thats just a bit selfish. poor christian workers arn’t entitled to rest. People give them money to work not rest and play.

so if you think it’s dumb maybe you should stop supporting us becasue we are probably doing lots of things you dont like. Like the other day i bought hot chips. Hot chips are not missionary food, they are for rich people only!

getting an overview

the past couple of day we have been going all over the place on trains, buses, and trams. checking out Adelaide at ground level.

Well today we thought it would be good to go up into the Adeliade hills and get a glimpse of  the city from afar.

So we went to Mt Lofty.

Can you see our apartment building in glenelg???

lofty1.jpg

Ok it’s a bit hard to see our building in glenelg, that’s probably becasue it’s so far away. how about we try and find something a bit easier, like the big buildings in the city centre. Can you see them?

lofty2.jpg

After 40 mins admiring the views of Adeliade we headed back down from the hills to Adelaide where it was much less wet and misty.

time for some fun on the Adelaide O-Bahn…..

This morning wife and I left our hotel and walked the 500m to sydney airport.

mmm maccas hot cakes hit the spot before our 2 hours in the air.

Arriving in adelaide we hopped on a bus and headed into the city centre for some wandering around, lunch and the markets.

we never did find the markets but we did find lunch, i had nandos wife had some hippy lunch with vegetables and stuff.

the some more wandering around while we waited for the historic tram trip to Glenelg, the historic tram never turned up so we just caught a normal tram and headed to glenelg.

our apartment is pretty posh, i’m impressed we are on level 9 of a 12 level building, lots of security doors and stuff. fun.

time for tv watching.

mountains, cities, pot and airports

Today was fullly hectic.

It began with a trip up the blue mountains to wish bevis a happy birthday.

Party skills where in full swing with me, tom and jenny finding some chairs and remaining in them for the majority of the time we where there.  We ate, talked and gave bevis a big ass bottle of wine for his birthday.

then it was home time for some packing and water changing for the turtles.

After about 25 mins at home I was up to hornsby station to meet tom so we could have a man date in the city whilst jenny was at the swans.

tom and i trained it to the city and went to the apple store, we used some macbook pro’s to look up movie times and headed to the union to watch ‘pineapple express’.

It was a strange movie and i think they struggled to fill 2 hours with pot jokes and smoke rings. It had some quite funny bits but on the whole it’s probably a dvd only movie.

after the movie oporto was eaten, then some sitting at central while jenny was still swanning. tom and i chatted about life and scantily clad women. Eventually jenny arrived and tom just disappeared, i went to the station entracne to help jenny with our bags and when i came back in he was gone. My guess is he ran off with one of the scantily clad women we saw earlier.

Then wife and i trained it to mascot and walked to the Stamford hotel where we are sleeping tonight, in the morning we head off to Adelaide for 4 nights of freezing cold baby-mooning.

last night wife, lachie, sam and I went and saw ‘the bank job’.

the_bank_job_poster1.jpg

It was ok. Jason Strathom seems to only have one character.

The movie had some action, and a a very small amount of one liners whic was a bit dissapointing, UK films normally are great a inserting one liners.

Also it had a lot of nipples, not needed nipples.

Yesterday was jam packed full of goodness.

Firstly a sleep in was a good start to the day. Then it was off to Glebe via wesfield.

Bye bye thurley’s event was attended. Gabe even let me buy his little bob the builder figurine. He said he doesnt want it anymore casue it’s off his pram and he’s too big for a pram now.

Then it was off to the Sydney apple store for some drooling. I had fun there looking and playing with everything. Walking uip and down the glass stairs.

i trained it home and was met by david on the train. came home to wife for a bit then off to the pub to hang with buddues and strangers.

After the pub it was dinner time with other buddies and then board games.

jenny still isnt letting me get an iphone or macbook pro
