the last mourning

[Live] from Greece No Comments

Here we are on our last morning in Greece. In about an hour we head to the airport for our return flight home.

Last night we had a big dinner with all the team and that was fun we had lasagne and fruit salad and greek stuff that tasted gross. Like fish eggs dip.

this morning most people went into town for last minute shopping personally i dont find it last minute enough so i’ll be doing my souvenir shopping at the airport, maybe not even athens airport maybe sydney airport before i go through customs.

sorry i didnt blog heaps on this trip, but it was hard if it was a holiday it would been much easier to blog. but i did improve a lot on last years efforts.

peace out dogs!

oh google replied to my email. i’ll post it here soon.

Well I’m back in Greece in thesonaliki in fact. yesterday we met up with the whole group again. and shared stories from our times in various plaes running the festivals.

then today we all got on a coach and headed off to philipi to see the remains of the ancian greek city where Paul visitied we spent about 3 hours wandering around the ruins with a guide called kostas briging the city to life. Then we headed a few mins up the road to where lydia was baptised. Its pretty cool seeing places that appear in the bible and being able to imagine what it would have been like in biblical times.

tonight we are back in thesonlanike before we all travel 10 hours in a bus tomorrow to Corinth and then Athens for our departure on sunday.

Going well, feeling healthy.

recap

Time to recap on the last week or so.

Well as yopu know i left sydney and flew to greece. In singapore airport myself jenny and julie ran into a group of other people going on the same trip to greece that was a bit of a surprise we all got on the same gulf air flight to Bahrain and then onto Athens.

In athens on our first night we bunked up at a large Scripture Union place after spending the afternoon at mars hill and sightseeing a bit of Athens.

THen the nex morning we hit the road for the 8 hour drive to the north of Greece to the town of Ptolemieda or however you spell it. A Lovely town where the local Evangelical church really opened their arms and embraced us, spoiling us with vast amouns of food and hospitality. We ran 4 festivals there over 3 days 1 each night in the main town square with croweds in the thousands and one very special festival in a physciatric hospital. THe patients in this hospital where lovely and it was a really special time.

THen after our time in ptolemieda we split into three groups one group went back to Athens one acoss to Thesaoniki and the group i’m inm off to Albania Korce.

So far we have run one festival in Korce.

Albania is a very interesting place, it is part of europe but not part of the EU, just 10 years ago it was a communist country there are many bunkers around the place from war times and most of the buildings are falling apart or fallen apart and abandonded. THe people of Albania have not had an easy life and they have a very low concept of themselves. But they are lovely. THere is a bit of a feud between albania and greece and it is fare to say that most of the population of albania does not want to live here.

Its crazy that they ae a developing nation surrouned by well established european countries.

its pretty hot during the day but at night its quite cool.

Having a very good time, a very tiring time but also very inspiring and eye opening. We have a great little team and i’m sdure we will bond together a lot over the next few days here in Korce. We are in Korce until next thursay morning and then we drive back across the border into Greece to meet up with the other groups again.

Be good to be praying for us and the Albanian people.

apart from that i dont really know what to say.

oh i got the coolest book for my birthday from Debbie Gower. thanks debsy.

they need more westfields in the world.

peace out dogs.

Hello all. sorry i have been really busy and not much time for computerness.

Its very hot over here. but very cool too.
The hospitality village we are staying in is pretty massive with heaps of organisations in here. Its in a massive warehouse thats been decked out to look cool.

The flight over was crazy and being sick i didnt enjoy it much.
Due to late running flights and stuff we ended up having 20 minutes in singapore and 20 minutes in bahrain. So was very tired when we finnaly arrived here in athens.

Not a fan of the toilet situation, its pretty gross having to put your used toilet paper in a bin beside the toilet. ( I have to talk about poo as it seems to be good for my stats)

The workload for me is pretty big, I’m having to produce a video at the end of each day higligghting that day. so its pretty hard work. Aswell i have to try and make it to as much of the training stuff as i can. The poo little ibook cant cope and is overheating a lot. lots of technical problems really :(.

Anyway i’m having fun, i think we are all having fun.

peace out.
