The Bomb! recipes
You better be home soon
I know its blasphemy to say this, but U2 is not my favourite band.
Crowded House is, and the rumours have been circulating this week that they will reform and go on tour and make an album. boy oh boy i as excited when i heard that. Well today its official !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you too
Last night bono invited me over with a few friends for quiet night of tunes and conversation.
It was tops, thanks heaps to the dudes who waited in line from 9am with my ticket.
when the gates opened at 5:30 we walked briskly into the arena, we had a long walk ahead of us if we wanted a slim chance of getting into the front section, only 4,000 people where allowed in the front section right infront of the stage, all 12 of us made it, so did the bebis clan, and others we knew aswell. It was cool, we even got branded with a stamp on our nexck, proving to the 81,000 thousand other people that we where better than them.

this is us just a bit before Kanye took to the stage.

And this is how close we where to the stage, bono and adam and larry all had moments with us at different stages of the night.
my phone battery died so i didnt get any photos with it while U2 was actually playing, but took some with jennys phone.
U2 was awsome, it was a show allright! big screens, lots of lights and a band that can rock the world!
It really was a once ina liftetime experience unless ofcourse they come back to sydney and i go again, then its a twice in a lifetime experience. either way its an experience never to be forgotten, unless of course i forget, that would be sad.
Thanks boys for a tops night! Andd see you tomorrow for the bbq bonb (we had to change it to sunday, hope thats ok)
toooot tooooot!
Toot toot!
Yesterday was steam train day. And oh how much I love steam train days.
Myself, jenny, joshy and sam all booked tickets on this baby a few months ago and finally the day had come. We where going on my favourite stream train the 3801.
We had to get up damn early and I had such a Bad sleep the ngiht before that getting up early was not a pleasant experience but I did it. We went down to central station to get on the train there. I love steam trains, it pulled in to central with its old school wooden carriages, and the smell of the smoke and the heat of the engine.
And this was no pansy steam train day we got to go all the way to Newcastle and back.

mmmmm steam

its early but its worth it

all of us in our compartment, thanks to the lady who took the photo

sam and jenny with their special $2 goggles to stop the soot from getting in their eyes

New castle isn’t the most exciting place in the world on a sleep Sunday afternoon, after ,much walking we eventually go to a supermarket. And then back to the waters edge for a picnic lunch. On the way we climbed this tower it was a long spiral staircase and my legs sure are reliving the climb today.

I took this photo through a little hole in the floor of the tower.

tug boats and big ships where defiantly a highlight of the Newcastle experience.

fancy some dance lessons?

wooshing past the signals.

and my personal favourite, going over the hawksbury river bridge.
jamie oh jamie
Remember the good old days when I used to blog each day?????
Oh we all miss those days.
Not a whole lot has happened since I last blogged.
Well actually that’s a lie, I did throw up yesterday morning, and last night I went to see Jami cullum at the state theatre with jenny, debbie, tom, jemma and cilla.
It was awesome!
He’s such a good performer is that Jamie, he was jumping all over the place, so much singing, his set went for just under 2 and a half hours. I feel like I got my moneys worth.
He told silly jokes, sung silly songs and serious ones. His band was pretty kick butt too.
I’d go see him again live.
north shore express
Yesterday was steam train day.
something to do with 100 years of hornsby shire being a shire. I dont really care what the reason for it was i just like steam trains.
There was me and jenny, joshy, sam and julian. And what fun we had. Well at first it wasnt fun, there was a stupid cityrail man at waitara who wouldnt shut up on the PA system, and talked really slow as if everyone on the platform was an idiot. “S-t-a-n-d—–b-e-h-i-n-d—-t-h-e—-y-e-l-l-o-w—–l-i-n-e——–. He was anoying.
Eventually the train came. one end had an old diesel engine and the other was the steam engine. the diesel pulled the train one way and then the steam loco pulled us back the other way. Because there is no place on the north shore line to turn a locco around.

here is the train approaching the station, along with sam’s head.

the steam engine

all of us. (except me)

this isnt the most exciting photo but it is the 2,000th photo taken on my camera.
Not a bad effort only had the camera since august last year.

this is my favourite photo of the day. the new train going past the old. with a nice reflection.
sometimes i think to myself “howie you should be a photographer”
there are more photos but thats enough for now.
It was a very fun morning we where all silly and made friends with the little old men who work on the train.
toooooot tooooooot
Today Jenny and I ventured up the mountains to the zig zag railway.
You may have picked up that I really like trains and I always have, I love catching trains, and train tickets and when I was little my family would often take me on steam train trips because they knew I loved it so much. I even got to go on the Flying Scotsman when it toured Australia.
My nan used to take me away on little holidays to blackheath and we would stay in a motel and it was all very exciting for me. On one of these little holidays we went to the zig zag railway and I loved it. Today I got to relive those memories with my nan and re experience the great little railway.
here are some photos from today.

At the bottom of my driveway about to leave.

After driving along the pacific highway, then pennant hills road then the M2 this is us on the m7 before we turn onto the m4 and head up the Blue Mtns highway before going across to the Bells line of road.

And here she is, the great zig zag railway, complete with coal shovelling man walking down the tracks.

the loco in place at the end of Clarence station ready to take us down the mountain

jenny looking out the window.

the zig zag

puffing along back up the mountain on our return journey.

the little station at the midway points where the loco uncouples and moves to the other end of the carriages.

the front of the loco

oh I was having so much fun.

Our afternoon at the zig zag draws to a close, but not without a trip to the gift shop.

this is ziggy one of our purchases from the shop.
Oh what a mighty fine day it was, I love the smell of the smoke and the soot in your face and the noise and the ricketynes of the old carriages. Oh how I love steam trains.
howie’s halfpipe scoop
Today is a glorious day for sacks for just $1.20 each. the bargin hunter.
I found today potato sacks for just $1.20 each. Thats right, so if you are planning a sack race over the holiday season Mitre 10 Hornsby is the place for you. They have real potato sacks, once filled with potatos then taken to mitre 10 and sold for $1.20
but folks that isnt the most exciting find of the day. The most exciting find of the day is a 600ml coke buddy for just $2.00. Read back over that you probably cant belive it. Its true again its at mitre 10 hornsby. THey have a coke machine just inside their door with $2.00 buddies.
oh how grand life can be
“its a beautiful day”
After 2 computers, 4 internet browsers, 2 mobile phones and a landline.
45 minutes of trying to get into ticketek.
WE HAVE TICKETS TO U2!!!!!!!!!!!
Prasie the Lord.
It was a very tense 45 minutes, now its time for a shower to wash off the sweat.
ammendment to post
I didnt get to have a shower becasue our water has been cut off becasue men in orange jackets are diggin up the road.
sea the sculptures
I know it probably looks like I never work. But its not true I work most days, I have just had some days off up my sleeve so jenny and I have been taking them together.
Today was another one of those days. We went to see the ‘sculptures by the sea” at bondi.
It was cool about 100 sculptures spread from bondi to Tamarama beach all along the headland.

But to start the day we took advantage of the cross city tunnel being free.

All the bins at Bronte beach for some reason were all lined up. But then when we came back to the car after our day they were all gone.

there was all sorts of weird and wonderful sculptures, some massive some tiny. some crap some really cool. This is a little comby van made out of mosaic.

some thing that spun around in wind symbolising something deep and meaningful, you know how artists do that.

this was my second favourite piece. A giant wave made out of scaffolding. It was massive. I love scaffolding.

a closer look at the scaffolding.

And this baby. My favourite piece of the day. A nice swimming pool

how cool is it the pool! Its in a skip bin

and one more photo that I have to blog. Not because I want to embarrass, Jenny but because it’s the 1,000th photo taken on my digital camera.
fun fun fun

Well as usual the day off that was had was fantabulous.
The first stop was wahringa mall for lunch, I had hungry jacks and jenny had a kebab without meat. Then we went looking at shops.
So much fun. I got a new Wallet and jenny got a new shirt. But the funnest items purchased was three little shopping trolleys.

that is my new wallet and jennys shirt in the trolleys too.

then it was time for ice cream.

and a walk around to Shelly beach.

then a ferry to the city.

Oh so attractive.

tea in hyde park, I had chai.

mmmm blurry pancakes at the rocks.
Now some arty farty.

jenny in a lift.

and then some late night shopping and a long walk uphill back to the car. (which was parked next to a decaying dead bird)

fun fun fun.
a bicentenious occasion
on the day that was Sunday jenny and I went to bicentennial park.
don’t believe me? well here is proof.
it was a fun day in the sun. Reminds me of when Ryan and I visited that park to “Acquire” some Olympic signage. ahhh good times good times.

A wide shot from a viewing tower.

As you can see jenny is excited.

shadows. (not quite as raunchy as the one on jenny’s blog”

Jenny’s head poking through a window in a viewing tower over looking a swamp.

my lunch.

the lunch venue.

back in the park at a fountain.

the corner of the fountain. mmmmm “come on kiddies lets play in the fountain”

and finally a bit of “awwwww”
lego is the bomb
WE played with lego at work today. I love lego.
I made a billboard and some poo.

Justine made a sheep

My Camera

Well here it is the Kodak Z740
5.0 Mega Pixel
10x optical zoom
Digital SLR
Internal memory and SD Cards.
I already had a 64MB SD card, which i know is a pansy card. Well today i got a 512MB SD card with some support money i got. So thats good that will be big enough to take lots of photos in greece.
Also Jenny’s parents bought me a camera bag for it too.
New PJ’s
Jenny bought me these coke pyjamas on our 6 months of going out day.

mmmmm coke.
And thats the way the cookie crumbles

Thanks to my buddy sam, An appraisal of Mobile Fone biscuits has been spotted in the newspaper
Oh they are the bestest biscuits. And if you are a smart shopper you can pick a pack up for just 99 cents.

jenny and I are going to go buy some now
heaven on a stick
Oh the daytripper ticket is so much the bomb. I reckon heaven will have daytripper tickets. And you can catch all the train busses and ferries you want around heaven for eternity for only $15.
Here is myself and jenny, sitting on the marvellous manly ferry.
Howie! Do you have to take a photo of me?????
Well our daytripper took us to the city, then across to manly and in manly we had lunch and laid on some grass after walking around to shelly beach and cabbage tree reserve.I had a buddy and a cheese and tomato roll.
Even our drinks had a rest on the grass in the midday sun
Once back in the city, we went and saw a movie.

It was allright. It was extremely predictable and quite hollywood. But it had some good gags and funny lines. Chris Rock was a bit restricted which I thought was good because he tends to go over the top a bit. And adman sandler well he’s the same in every film he is in. Except” punch drunk love” . I’m gonna give it 3 / 7
After the movie as we where walking down to the rocks from Wynyard. There was a large building and in its foyer was this man just sitting on an office chair all by himself. So I thought I’d take a photo because it amused me.
then pancakes on the rocks. A fine 24hr establishment.
Beautiful girl in a beautiful city.
I like big glass lifts.
and that was the day of fun.
Our Holi-one-day
5:30am

Our plane and me

on the plane

Us on the Coolangatta beach holding our cheap 600ml buddies

Oh what a pretty beach it is

The cinema, it was a dodgy cinema, uncomfortable seats and stuff..but all added to the experience

And now waiting for the train on the way home.

tom has more photos on his blog
Across the border and back
Well here we are!
Down town Coolangatta. Thats right tom and i are sitting in an internet cafe in coolangatta on the lovely Gold Coast of Australia.
What a way to spend a day off. We flew up here this morning, just saw Hitch Hickers guide to the Galaxay.
Which was a good entertaining film, I dont know how it compares to the book because i dont really read books. But it was fun. Marvin the depressed robot was my favourite. It wanst an amazing film but worth a watch i give it. 5/7
anyway we have to leave soon and head back to the gold coast Airport for our flight home.
I reccomend a quick trip interstate for a few hours, especially queensland becasue the coke is cheap the films are cheap and thats all you need really.
how did all this frivolity come about?
Well tom and i both had days off so last night we brainstormed what we could do together today and an interstate flight came up. So on the net we went finding cheap fares.
So cheap the train fare to the airport was more expensive thatn the flight to the Gold coast.
anyway so much fun and frivolity.
this is me on the train at 5 something this morning

tom on the train
and this is me at Coolengatta Airport at 8:45 this morning

me blogging right now
