The little ‘holiday’ that Oscar and I went on is well and truly over.
We left on Sunday afternoon and Jenny came and picked us up on Wednesday around 10am.
But what happened in between? If you are friends with me on Facebook you may have noticed an album full of photos form our little getaway, if you are not firneds with me on Facebook it’s probably because I deleted you. I deleted over 200 ‘friends’ a couple of weeks ago.
On Monday morning after waking up at the normal 7am Oscar had his wheatbix and cup of milk and I had a musli bar.

Then there was the routine childnres tv shows to watch before we began our journey to Luna Park.
Our apartment was in Pyrmont behind the convention centre so we had to get ourselves to the king street wharf which is quite a long walk for a 2 year old so we made use of the Monorail which Oscar was pretty excited about, well he was excited watching it come in to the station but once we where on it he spent the whole trip saying “daddy are we on the monorail now?”
We waited for the ferry then cruised across to Luna Park. It was a quick ish ferry ride.
We arrived at Luna Park about half an hour before they opened which was very frustrating for Oscar as he wanted to go on the little cars ‘nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww’. I convinced him to fill in the time by eating which he was happy to do.

Oscar has big boobs
We have well and truly got value for money with a Luna Park annual pass that Oscar gave me for fathers day last year! He loves it there and there is a big enough selection of rides for little kids that keeps him well entertained.
It was a bit of a ghost town on Monday though first we went on the dodgem cars together but there was no other people so it was just the two of us in one car going round and round, Oscar thought it was hilarious though and we bumped in to the wall lots to make it more fun.
Eventually school kids arrived which made the day less fun. But thankfully there all too fat to go the little kiddy rides.
After Luna park we headed back to our place using the ferry and light rail.
I cooked Oscar sausages for dinner which he always loves and we had another rough night with him waking and coughing lots.
Tuesday was massive.
We headed off for the Zoo bright an early taking 2 ferries to get there. We also have had zoo annual passes for the last yearish so another value for money destination. One of Oscar’s favorite things at the zoo is the cable car but the cable car was broken so we caught a bus up to the top instead.
Oscar had a great time, the zoo is the kind of place where he can wander off not having to hold my hand or be close to the pram, so he did lots of exploring and he really loves the freedom but also loves to stop and check that he can still see me and me him, which is not always the case, one day he will understand that just becasue he can see daddy doesnt mean I can see him.

Tassie Devil 'Road Kill' exhibit
This time Oscar’s favourite animals where the possums and the meerkats. I got myself the worlds most expensive chicken burger meal for lunch and whipped out some cruskits for oscar and smeared peanut butter on them. Luckily I had a whole jar in my backpack!
Oscar decided to have a big tanty just near the bottom exit which meant we missed a ferry by less than one minute which I didn’t enjoy as we now had to sit on the wharf for 30 minutes.
Eventually the ferry came and Oscar spent most of the trip with his head out the window shouting ‘boy’ at some kid outside.
We then headed for sydney tower which Oscar loved. But it also meant he spotted the darling harbour Ferris wheel which I thought was finally out of his mind. He managed to spot this thing several times the day before and on the drive in on Sunday.
Anyway up the tower he asked again if we could go on it so I decided to say yes because it was a holiday and he asked very nicely and apart from the zoo tanty had been a pretty good boy. So transported to Darling Harbour and went to the Ferris wheel where a carnie family with 4 teeth between them informed me of the price. It was $8 for one, and I thought that was expensive but not too outrageous, until she said that the kid is counted as one too. WHO THE HELL CHARGES A 2 YEAR OLD $8 FOR A FRIGGEN FERRIS WHEEL. He is free for the zoo, free to go up sydney tower but this was going to cost $16!!!!! I hope they spent my money on dental work!
After the ferris wheel we pottered around darling harbor then headed back for our last night in our pad.
On Wednesday morning I packed and cleaned the place before we left. I had to take a large suitcase, pram, porta-cot, 2 backpacks, shopping bag and a 2 year old down to the lobby then down a flight of stairs to the street to wait for Jenny.

leaving time
I was sweating and flustered once everything was on the footpath. I almost lost Oscar when the lift opened on the wrong floor.
We sat on the footpath waiting for jenny, then about 5 minutes before Jenny was going to arrive Oscar said the words I hate the most when I’m not somewhere familiar and easy. ‘Daddy I need to do a poo poo”. So I carried everything back up the steps and took oscar to the toilet where he said my second most hated phrase “oh no poo poo”. Then jenny rang to say she was out the front so back down the stairs I went with all our stuffs.
Thankfully we made it home easily and Oscar and I both had a big long nap that afternoon.
I’m ready to have another father son trip when he’s 18.
